Coffee holds a rich and flavorful history in Mexico, having been introduced in the late 18th century and quickly becoming a cornerstone of the country’s culture and economy. Mexican coffee, grown in the lush highlands of regions like Chiapas and Veracruz, is celebrated for its bold flavors and smooth finish. At Mendoza Cafe y Vino, we honor this legacy with every cup, blending tradition with a modern touch. The name “Mendoza” carries its own story—it’s the maiden name of the founder’s mother, a tribute to family, heritage, and the spirit of connection that coffee inspires.
It is a unique preparation of coffee brewed in a clay pot (olla), which imparts a distinct earthy flavor. The coffee is sweetened with piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar) and often infused with spices like cinnamon and sometimes clove or anise. Café de Olla is deeply rooted in Mexican culture and is often enjoyed in rural areas or during traditional celebrations.
Popular flavors of Mexican ice cream include mango, tamarind, coconut, chocolate with chili, and dulce de leche. In some regions, traditional flavors like tequila, mezcal, and mamey (a tropical fruit) are also enjoyed.
